Player of the Week: Week 5
Welcome to the fifth edition of VGAHL’s Season 22 Players of the Week. Merry Christmas and happy holidays everyone. I hope you all got to take some time off for yourself, spend time with some family and overall enjoyed the break so far. For those whose times are rough around the holidays, stay strong and know you’ll get through this, and I hope you at least got some time off work or school. Before heading into the break, teams were trying to gain position on each other, trying to prove which team is the most dominant. Players stepped up on both offence and defence, so without further ado, let’s see which ones did.
Jyuhnn: 8 GP, 34 G, 20 A, 54 P, 6.75 PPG, +32, 6-2-0
For the second straight week, Jyuhnn takes forward of the week with a stellar performance. Somehow putting up 34 goals (over 4 goals per game) and 20 assists, Jyuhnn was just a nightmare for any team to even try to deal with. And honestly, I don’t really think any team actually handled him. The Hershey Bears may now have the best offensive duo in the league with Jyuhnn and Cor, so now it’s just up to the NHL team to see if these guys deserve to finish what they started, or if they decide they want them for a Stanley Cup run. No matter what Jyuhnn does though, he’ll be dominant.
CorSnortzky: 5 GP, 16 G, 29 A, 45 P, 9.00 PPG, +38, 5-0-0
BobeyX: 3 GP, 12 G, 13 A, 25 P, 8.33 PPG, +20, 3-0-0
SMUR4-: 6 GP, 11 G, 24 A, 35 P, 5.83 PPG, +28, 5-1-0
MoritzSeider-: 7 GP, 11 G, 13 A, 24 P, 3.43 PPG, +36, 6-1-0
MoritzSeider went on an absolute offensive tear from the blue line this past week, somehow putting up 11 goals from the blue line, and tacking on 13 assists to go along with his goal scoring. Going 6-1 with the Roadrunners, Moritz did just about everything, helping the team not only on offence, but still staying true to his position and adding 25 takeaways on the week to go along with his offensive explosion. A well earned player of the week badge for Moritz.
xgoalscorer9: 5 GP, 2 G, 14 A, 16 P, 3.20 PPG, +24, 4-1-0
Bugsyl17l: 3 GP, 3 G, 13 A, 16 P, 5.33 PPG, +13, 2-1-0
Landamov: 6 GP, 2 G, 15 A, 17 P, 2.83 PPG, +23, 6-0-0
Vrain91: 7 GP, 6-1-0, .791 SV%, 2.55 GAA, 0 SO
Vrain had a tremendous week for the Texas Stars, who are currently trying to make their way back into the hunt. The team have the pieces potentially needed to start going on a tear, and having a goaltender they can rely on is a huge step in the right direction. Going 6-1 on the week before the break with a .791 save percentage and 2.55 goals against average, Vrain is going to need to continue these types of performances if Texas wants to get back into the playoffs.
