VGAHL Semi-Final Review
What happens when the league’s highest Points Per Game (xWillis) meets the league’s lowest GAA (Jesus_Price_31)? Season 23’s top goal scorer faces off against the season’s best assist-man!! Does division winner LeHigh Valley have what it takes to stifle mid-season favorites and divisional rivals in the Binghamton Devils? Can Sakxc's league lead in GWG get Colorado past a hungry Milwaukee squad?
The answers to these and more, below!!
Western Conference:
ONT vs HSK
The regular season saw the Henderson Silver Knights outscore their second-round opponents by more than 100 goals, while allowing about 30 fewer behind their own netminder. Ontario managed to steal home ice advantage with a split in Henderson, in a couple of 1 goal games, but the next 3 games proved HSK’s fire power, led by tom187@hotmail, too overwhelming for Ontario to Reign in.
HSK wins 4 games to 1.
MIL vs COL
While Sakxc- did not get the start in any of these games, it did not seem to matter much. From the puck drop of Game 1 this series was all Colorado. Milwaukee tried making a game of it a couple of times, but the score always fell in the Eagles favor.
Colorado soars to the Conference Finals.
COL 4 MIL 0
Eastern Conference:
CHA vs SYR
Looking like mid-season MacGregor-Kilpatrick favorites', the Checkers face off against division winners Syracuse, putting an end to a season-long rivalry. While Charlotte boasts the player with the highest points per game in xWillis, Syracuse’s defensive prowess, led by Jesus_Price_31’s AHL-lowest GAA proved too much for the Checkers to overcome, scoring 4 or more goals only once.
CHA loses to SYR 4 games to 1.
BNG vs LVP
While Lehigh did not have the Goals For, nor Goal Differential of divisional rivals Binghamton, it did not stop them from taking the division, and having a substantially better road record. However, this proved to be the difference maker in the series, as Binghamton swept the Phantoms, with a notable showing in game 3, where they blew the doors off of the Phantoms net with 8 goals, in what had been a very tight series to that point.
The Devils spook the Phantoms with a sweep.
BNG 4 LVP 0
