After Week 6 we began to see the playoff lines start to form. In both conferences, you have one division potentially sending 5 teams to the playoffs. In the east it’s the Metro, with Carolina and New York holding on to those wild card spots. Buffalo is chasing, only behind by 11 points, but only 4 behind the third spot in the Atlantic. In the West, it’s eerily similar, the Pacific sending 5, while Colorado is chasing St. Louis for the third spot in the Central. With that quick recap, it’s time for the players of the week.
U_1_2_B_me_ was probably the most all-around defense-man this week. In six games, he put in two goals, had ten assists, was a plus ten and only took two penalty minutes. Part of the new look Flyers, building from the back always makes sense when you have talent up front. The addition of u_1_2_B_me_ is already paying dividends for the flyers.
Another week and another player from the top team in the East, New Jersey. xTarasenko91_ was a play-making machine this week. Dropping 24 dimes and going 7-1 with a 4.13 points per game. A plus 25 and my favorite stat for forwards, only 4 penalty minutes in eight games. A guy who has to be up there in the Selke discussion, scoring on the power play and burying 2 short-handed goals. He is just one of many reasons New Jersey is leading the East.
He earned it last week, and he definitely earned it this week. It was a weird week, where no one goalie got more than 5 wins. What was impressive about this week, is XUltimatomX went up against the Pacific Division. Going 5-1 against the West, facing six of nine teams who are playoff teams, the Pacific came into Tampa and left with a losing record. He faced over 15 shots a game, put up a .892 save percentage and only allowed 1.62 goals against.
